The Castle today

The real restoration of the château, which was in very bad condition, began in 1860 under the direction of a student of Viollet-le-Duc, Jules de la Morandière, who was highly attracted to the neo-Gothic style.

In around 1911, a French-style garden was laid out under the direction of the landscape designer, Duchesne. The château is now inhabited and looked after by Rohan family.

The Association of Friends of the Chateau de Josselin

This association was founded in 2009 with a dual purpose. On the one hand, thanks to accessions, supporting the promotion and facilitation of the castle and thus promote its openness to a wide audience. On the other hand, thanks to donations sent through the association "La Demeure Historique, " which allows the issuance of tax receipts, help finance repairs to the Castle, the jewel of Breton heritage.
