The English Park

At the foot of the ramparts, following along the stream, hidden in a sheltered dale, extends the English Park planted by the celebrated landscape gardener Achille Duchêne who also created the French Garden.
This park has been remodelled since some twenty years under the direction of Louis Benech. Here, is a special domain where rare species of azalea, camellias and numerous rhododendrons thrive. A collection of cornel (dogwood) complete the many varieties of plants, shrubs and trees that this Park offers, under the shadows of majestic hundred–year-old trees.
Entry to this English Park is limited and only possible at certain dates : every Sunday in May, at the beginning of June during the weekend event of ‘Meet us in the garden’, and during Heritage Day in September. During the rest of the year, visitors can contemplate this Park from the top of the ramparts bordering the terrace in front of the Castle.
